Joe Jonas announced the nominees for the 2012 People’s Choice Awards which was held at the Paley Center for Media on November 8, 2011 in Beverly Hills, California.
Some lyrics videos are better than the official deal — such is the case with Joe Jonas’ vid for “See No More.” That’s why we’re pleased to announce that Jonas’ spray-painted masterpiece has nabbed the award for Best Lyrics Video.
Jonas’ vid definitely was up against some stiff competition — Gym Class Heroes’ old-school boombox video for “Stereo Hearts” was a rad throwback, and Christina Perri’s stop-action “Arms” was a lovely twist on projecting your feelings. Still, Jonas’ video, featuring artist Curtis Kulig spraypainting song lyrics on a wall, was the clear winner.
Tag, Joe, you’re it!
Joe Jonas’ song, “See No More” wins a MTV O Music Award for Best Lyrics Video. Joe Jonas thanks the fans for voting, Curtis Kulig, and his record label.
The day that you’ve been waiting for is here. The day when we’re finally taking the wraps off of The O Music Awards 2, revealing which nominees will be battling it out in which categories for eternal digital fame.
April’s inaugural O Music Awards, which streamed live from Las Vegas’ iconic Fremont Street, garnered MTV’s second-biggest-live stream audience ever, and featured performances by Mumford & Sons, Foster the People, Lupe Fiasco, Matt & Kim, as well as a world record for the longest freestyle rap by Chiddy Bang’s Chidera “Chiddy” Anamege. The O Music Awards 2 promises to be an even more jam-packed affair. Teaser: It’s going down right here on OMusicAwards.com (as well as MTV.com, VH1.com, CMT.com, LogoTV.com and MTVHive.com) on Halloween night. Insert joke about tricks and treats here.
As you can see below, some of the categories have remained from the first iteration of the show (like Fan Army FTW and Must Follow Artist on Twitter), but, by and large, we’ve delved into new areas of digital excellence to bring you a ton of musical freshness this time around.
Some of said freshness came from you, dear readers, in the form of five new awards generated by user submissions. We put the call out in August to brainstorm, and boy did you guys make it rain. The new, crowdsourced categories are: Oops! I Did It Online, Best Artist with a Cameraphone, Best Web Born Artist, Best Vintage Viral Video and Best Lyrics Video.
And the nominees are just as diverse at the categories. We’ve got everyone from pop princess Lady Gaga to mysterious up-and-comer The Weeknd in attendance (both tied with two nominations), as well as brainy folks like SoundCloud founder Alexander Ljung (for “Hottest Music NILF”) and hot startups, like Turntable.fm (for “Most Addictive Social Music Service”).
Best Lyrics Video
1. Katy Perry, “E.T.” featuring Kanye West
2. Joe Jonas, “See No More”
3. Lenny Kravitz, “Stand”
4. Christina Perri, “Arms”
5. D.Willz, “Watermelon”
Joe is nominated for a few awards for popstar magazine! Jonas Brothers and Camp Rock 2 is also nominated. Some categories he isn’t on, but you can type in his name under “other” like I did above. You can vote once a day!
